Norma Green is in her 40's, unmarried and living with her invalid Mother. Feeling that life is passing her by, she joins a dating agency but will settle for nothing less than true love. She survives dates with a mind-numbing bore and a fanatical cycling freak before the stylish, urbane Geoff appears and charms both Norma and her Mother. The story takes an unexpected turn when mum discovers Geoff's secret and the relationship comes to a surprising conclusion.
