A bunch of Amateurs

By Nick Newman & Ian Hislop

Washed-up Hollywood star Jefferson Steel is deceived by his agent into playing King Lear in an amateur production in a small sleepy Suffolk village. Expecting a fancy suite in a posh hotel, the actor finds himself having to stay in a bed and breakfast. Steel's monstrous ego, insecurity and pretensions barely allow him to conform to such indignities as rehearsing Shakespeare in a barn. But, among the enthusiastic villages, he slowly comes to discover truths about himself and look at life in a whole new way.
